Question Asked on 4/30/2014

When would you want to use a dual-cure adhesive?

Answer Response by Dr. Suh on 4/29/2014

“Dual-cured” and “Dual-cure compatible” adhesives are the most confused definitions in the market today. Dual-cured adhesives are 2-component adhesives that can be self-cured or light-cured.

Dual-cure compatible adhesives can be used with dual-cured resins, but light-curing of the adhesive layer may be required. Dual-Cured adhesives are intended for use when the adhesive layer cannot be cured (ie. post canal) or when bonding indirects, film thickness issues prevent curing of the adhesive layer.

Dual-cure compatible adhesives are indicated for use with using a dual-cure cement for indirect cementation, or when bonding dual-cured core build-ups.
